| Abstract: | - Writing Exposition PURPOSE In an expository text the writer or speaker is selecting and organising information with the intention of convincing the reader or listener of a particular point of view.
- Argument The bulk of the text is dedicated to giving reasons and evidence to justify and support the author's opinion.
- In the final statement, the writer or speaker may summarise the whole argument, reiterating the strength of their position according to the evidence that has been presented.
- Expository texts are usually written in the present tense but may also use the past tense when referring to historical evidence or the future tense when predicting consequences.
